Thanks for the welcome! Didn’t mean to make such a splash by booting the Captain. Just trying to contribute … got my comeuppance pretty quickly, too.

Thanks, too, for letting me join y’all. My people are long removed from Scotland, but the pride is still there. They came to Georgia – then a colony – in 1765. We haven’t strayed far.

I live up in the North Georgia hills. We’re actually only a mile and a half (2.6 km) as the crow (raven) flies from the 1996 Olympic rowing venue on Lake (Loch) Lanier.

If you, or any kin, come this way, look us up.

Oh … where’s the bar? I’ll buy the first round!

Sorry I haven’t yet posted to the clubhouse.

Am hoping to finish my first season (August 2007-April 2008) with 750,000 meters. (We spell it this way in the States.)

I am planning to be part of the team next season. I even purchased two Scottish flags for motivation. The bigger one I hung on the wall in front of my erg, and the smaller one I hung up at work in my classroom. No one yet has asked me what flag it is! Typical!

I may be sidelined for several weeks starting in June due to foot surgery from a congenital problem. Other than that, I’m hoping to get to one million meters for next season.

Anyhow, take care, and greetings from this side of the Atlantic.

I’ve read the comments recently and thought I would participate. Its just taken me a long time to get round to registering. Anyway, I plan to continue rowing with StW and ambitions remain to do 2 million, row in a comp and break 7 mins for 2k. As I age the last is going to become less likely but one more push *next season) should do it. Happy to share training notes. Would have done Scottish champs but am involved with rugby and it clashed with Scotland game. So its the British this Autumn.
